Terrible Ideas happen everywhere – from pottery to programming.
The Terribles Ideas Hackathon is a 46-hour challenge to create the most terrible, awful, brilliant ideas you can think of. From taser-based chess or an emotionally needy AI controlled Microwave, to soleless Jandals or marmite flavoured fudge. Join us in a celebration of failure, creativity, and stupid, terrible decisions. Wrap it up in your best entrepreneurial flair and present it with your school team for a Terrible Award and infamy.

Your Funeral Pinata might put the fun back in funerals but is it terrible enough to beat the toilet with an automated bottom wiping arm?

Join us in a celebration of Terrible Ideas!

WHO: Anyone 13-19 (High school age) who is enthusiastic to make some horrifically terrible ideas.

WHEN: 8th till 10th of December.
We kick off on Friday evening at 6pm with food and a general orientation to the event. At this time we will have a brainstorming session to develop (or further develop) your idea and form your plan.
Coming back on Saturday morning to work in your teams on your projects.
Coming back on Sunday morning for your final sprint through to the presentations and awards

WHERE: Questionable Research Labs, inside Tikipunga High School (https://questionable.org.nz/info/location/)

WHAT: Over the two days you will create/make your terrible idea as well as put together a video presentation to pitch your prototype. All participants are encouraged to help-out other teams; be promiscuous with your dodgy ideas and making skills. Facilitators and support people will also be on hand to help with obtaining materials and using tools as well as being a source of skills. Completing your project in time will be a challenge, but teetering on the edge of disaster is part of the fun. What could possibly go wrong?

Plenty of food and drinks will be provided to keep your brain and body functioning.

WHY: Because, just because
